Quick question,I am drawing the base for mine now. I take it weapons aren't against the rules. Could I include a gun in mine or would that be out of place?

A gun is fine. Pirate types are recommended. A lot of the culture is much like the pirate culture of the Caribbean. Try wiki searching pirate weaponry.
