Hungarian Alumina Waste Spill

You've probably heard of this if you watch the news. A berm at an alumina plant in (Ajkai Timföldgyár) in Ajka, Hungary ruptured (possibly due to human error), spilling 35 million cubic feet of a highly alkaline "red mud" toxic waste, and flooding 7 towns, polluting the Danube river, and ultimately possibly polluting the Balaton lake, the most important lake in Hungary. While this hasn't been as bad as the cyanide spill in Romania in 2000, this is one of the worst man-made environmental disasters since Chernobyl. This will cost Hungary millions and millions of dollars to clean up, and may take years. And (get this) the plant's manager says he wants to resume production of Alumina next Monday. SERIOUSLY WTF. That plant should be shut down!

It's not the plants fault itself: it was a human error. They need to restock their staff and get better suitable persons to work

And where are the US relief funds? Seriously, we bail out Haiti, but Hungry, an allies is left on their own? US playing favorites as usual...

I don't think we need to give them money. I mean, we are on a tight budget as it is :/

Then why were we able to help out Haiti? If you help one, you should help all, especially since they are our ally. I would say its the plants fault for not having tighter regulation. Its not water they were working with, it was toxic waste. They should of had someone checking, double checking and triple checking.

We cannot afford to help every little country all the time. I wish it was so.

Again, why does Haiti receive said special treatment? Give to all or none. Nobody cared about the Tsunami that hit Sri Lanka 6 months down the line. It just depends on the News. It depends which is a better story and those are the people that receive all the help. It's all about politics and its bullshit. Give to all or none. And we frankly need to help our selves, yes, but thats not the reality.

also, it's been noted that the berm was bleeding prior to the breach, it was noticeable on Google Earth.

I personally think that we should have left Haiti alone too. They shot at helicopters bringing supplies. I just hate it because we could help every country in the world, but if we were in need, they'd let us drown.
