Class of 2011
CLASS OF 2011
As you all know, I am a senior this year and just had my first day as one. I have to admit, it was awesome. I swell with glee whenever I heard the word "Senior" or words "Class of 2011". I'm also sadden since I shall be leaving my school and moving on towards the big, bad, cruel world. I'm terrified I am going to fail in college and forget everything I am taught. I guess I shall wait and see. If any of you have some tips for senior year, like how to and when to go at scholarships/loans, I am more than willing to listen. I need you guys as support

Re: Class of 2011
My senior experience:
-Not having to wear uniforms anymore was both the weirdest and coolest thing ever
-I got to know people in my class a lot better
-excited to move on, I knew I'd miss my classmates, but I also knew that the world had more to offer
My tips for senior year:
-Figure out what you want to be, personally and professionally
-Find out what you're interested in, to start with. Like, for me I always had found architecture interesting, and I liked to draw, and I had been doing 3D stuff for quite a while. At first I wanted to be an architecture major, but then I realized that while i liked the kind of math involved, there was just too much of it for me. So I went to 3D art, because it offered the same 3D aspect, but required less math.
On preparation for college:
-Work hard to find a college that offers -exactly- what you want. You might not find -every- single thing, but you can come close. It's so worth it, especially when you know you'll be spending the next 4 years calling it home
-Don't wait to look for scholarships. I started applying for the as soon as senior year. Do whatever you can to avoid loans, take a job and work if you have to.

Thank you Raps! This is some helpful info. Do I need to know my current GPA to apply for scholarships?

I have my college picked out! Virgina College in Huntsville. Very close and it will cost less then moving out of state.

You'll probably pick different colleges all throughout the year. Trust me, I went through 3 before I finally decided. Keep looking instead of closing to new options; you never know, a new one may bump this one off the list.

Yea, you always want a backup or two. I am stuck at my school now because my backup thats I ignored are now not accepting new students. I would apply everywhere you can.

No, you are just applying to the school when you apply. After you apply, they send you a letter letting you know if you got in or not, then you have to make the decision of where you want to go.
