I know, some I didn't know, but most were either true or I knew about them. Lol

I actually, I feel bad for kids today. I was watching a home video of me when I was 10. We had set up a whole TV channel, my sister and I, with a cooking show, a gardening show complete with commercials and I think about my ten year old cousin, and all she has is a Wii and a computer. And I got to thinking if all kids are raised this way, then there isn't going to be much creativity left. I mean, we didn;t have much as kids, so we made our own fun. Now, kids have millions of things to do, which is ashame in a way.

They were worried about kids with tvs losing their creativity, too. (Although they might have had a point with that, considering that the first generation of kids who grew up in front of the TV is now in charge of making new tv shows and movies... so we seem to keep getting remakes of old tv shows, movies, and comic books! Lol )

I'm beginning to wonder how old Miss Mary Mack really is.. We had that when I was a kid, too

Kids of the 90's Empty Re: Kids of the 90's

Post by Ghost May 6th 2010, 10:25 am

From when I was a kid:

Pluto was a planet

I also refused to believe yo-yos were popular when my parents were kids. And my grandparents.

I remember Saturday morning cartoons. I thought it had started going downhill a bit by the 90s when they stopped running the 3-way competition between the "big 3" networks and having the promotional specials every fall, though.

Miss Mary Mack...that's been around a very long time. My 80 year old mom remembers it

I remember boom boxes vs 8 track tapes... Rofl (And VHS vs BETA. VHS plays longer, BETA has higher picture quality. I liked the BETA better. I was actually about 20 at that point, though.)

I read all the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books too, although I fell in love with Sherlock Holmes to the point of knitting a bookmark for the book.

I remember a time before the WB. LOOONG before the WB.

(I actually never learned the Macarena, but I was an adult by that point anyway.)

We went slinky-crazy briefly in the 60's too

We would call radio stations to hear songs off our walkmans too

Tag, Hide & seek, Mother may I, Red Light Green Light, Hopscotch, Simon Says, running through the sprinklers etc. are kids games that have been around forever.

We had a slip and slide. I remember a few times where I went sailing off the end of it and scraped my belly on the grass.

hula hoops were also popular in the 60s for a while

My mom made Kool Aid for us too!

5 dollars is always a lot of money to a kid who doesn't have any money... and the front seat where the adults sit is always a privilege the first time you sit there. And yes, anybody over 20 is grown up, and must be old. Life is always simpler for a kid. Adults protect them from the more complicated stuff until they are older and a bit more ready for it.

Wow... almost everything I can remember.

When I was 2, I used to stick stuff in my diaper because Tommy Pickles did it.

EDIT: Oh! And does anyone remember the Rugrats video game? It was the reptar one, I believe. I remember playing that game NONSTOP on my dad's Playstation (1)

I really wish they would switch back to the old Cartoon Network. Now they show boring real life stuff.

Another note: All of the Nicktoons from 1991 to 2005 I like, even some were before I was born. After 2005 the nick toons are a little.... ehhh.

Yeah, why do they call it "Cartoon Network" if they never show cartoons anymore?

(I suppose none of you were even aware that Disney once promised that they would never make a sequel to any of their movies?)
